Lilongwe, Malawi, September 11, 2023, 6:00 PM – In an emblematic gesture reinforcing the deepening ties between China and Malawi, an Excavator donated by SANY Group has been officially delivered to the Presidential Palace in the Malawian capital, Lilongwe.
Earlier, between June 29 and July 2, the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo was held in Changsha. On the morning of June 30, the President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Chakwera, visited the SANY Group. During his visit, as a token of goodwill, SANY Group gifted an excavator to Malawi. President Chakwera remarked to the press, "This is a precious gift." Given the devastation caused by the recent tropical cyclone "Freddy" in Malawi, this engineering equipment from SANY is poised to play a pivotal role in the nation's rebuilding efforts. Mr. Xiang Wenbo, Rotating Chairman of SANY Group, solemnly promised to deliver the equipment to Malawi.
Coming to September 11, the much-anticipated SANY excavator arrived at the Presidential Palace in Lilongwe. To mark the occasion, the Malawian government organized a grand welcoming and handover ceremony. The "golden key" to the equipment was personally handed over to President Chakwera by Wang Yi'ou, the Vice Governor of Hunan Province. The Vice Governor reiterated this visit's alignment with the "Three Highs and Four News" blueprint envisioned by Chairman Xi Jinping for Hunan and highlighted the series of agreements made between the Provincial Government and President Chakwera during their meeting in Changsha.
Describing the SANY excavator as a symbol of the China-Malawi friendship, Vice Governor Wang expressed confidence that the gift would contribute to the further deepening of cooperation between the two nations.
Reflecting on recent developments, President Chakwera recalled his enthusiastic conversation with Chairman Xi Jinping at the BRICS summit in South Africa. He also mentioned inviting the Chairman to the United Nations' "Malawi Partners" forum. Appreciating SANY's proactive efforts, President Chakwera noted that the company was indeed implementing the directives of the national leaders.
After receiving the "golden key", an excited President Chakwera climbed into the driver's seat to start the machinery. Emotionally, he conveyed his gratitude to Mr. Xu Ming, Senior Vice President of SANY Group, stating, "Commitment is gold. Thank you, SANY. Wishing SANY success in Malawi."
